After relocating from Taiwan to the United States, Fan has embraced New York City as her home for over six years. "We live at a much slower pace than New York, so it really affected me to have me slow down in my design process," she explained. "It’s like a different aspect and perspective that I could give into my own clothing, so it’s definitely interesting to see that."

Stepping Stones to Recognition: The London Debut and Celebrity Endorsements
The aspiration to present at Fashion Week, a platform for showcasing one’s creations to industry tastemakers, is a common dream for designers. For Maggie Fan, this dream materialized the previous year at Flair Fashion’s runway showcase in London. However, such significant opportunities are invariably accompanied by formidable challenges. Fan confessed to moments of doubt regarding the launch of her couture brand. "They reached out to me a few times when I was in college, but I never felt like I was ready for that kind of commitment," she revealed. One year after her graduation from Parsons, Fan took a decisive step beyond her comfort zone by accepting the invitation to the London showcase. "It was definitely a big challenge because it’s the first runway that introduced my couture brand, and it was overseas in London," Fan reminisced. "So it had so many challenges, but I guess I’m the person who really likes to walk out of my comfort zone and take these kinds of challenges to push myself." The event not only provided a visual platform for her SS26 collection, titled "Silent Marks," but also served as a profound full-circle moment. Fan’s academic journey included studying abroad at the Central Saint Martins (CSM) in London, a city she deeply cherishes. The experience of returning to London for her brand’s debut evoked fond memories of her past explorations of its vintage markets.
Following her successful establishment in the industry, Tang Chi Couture was poised for wider global exposure. Less than three months after her London debut, the brand expanded its reach to Los Angeles through a showroom partnership with L.E.R. Public Relations. This strategic move soon led to a significant endorsement when one of Fan’s designs caught the attention of celebrity stylist Enrique Melendez.
The actress Leah Sava Jeffries made a memorable appearance at the season two premiere of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians in December 2025, gracing the red carpet in Fan’s SS26 look, "Tick-Tock." This appearance, a complete surprise to Fan, rapidly evolved into a viral red carpet moment. "The accessories were initially inspired by the hour hands on the clock, so I think he sort of related that to the siren and anchor vibes in the show," Fan shared, underscoring the stylist’s insightful interpretation of her design. Melendez’s creative modification of the original design, by repositioning the necklace’s clasp to the front, further enhanced its resonance with the show’s thematic elements, a detail Fan found particularly intriguing.

Prior to her deep immersion in fashion, Fan was a devoted "Little Monster," a term for fans of the artist Lady Gaga. "For the first collection, I kind of held back because I wanted to observe what feedback the industry would give me. Fan envisions Tang Chi Couture expanding its creative horizons through various collaborative avenues. "I definitely want to reach out to more stylists to have different creative collaborations. I want to participate more in the art and creative side, like maybe to do more films," she stated. She also aims to leverage the vibrant backdrop of New York City for her own photoshoots, further integrating the city into the brand’s visual identity.
Her guiding philosophy for maintaining longevity and integrity in her work is deeply rooted in personal well-being and authenticity. "Have a kind mindset and don’t be too easily influenced by other people’s opinions. It’s really, really important, or else you’ll get too many unhealthy breakdowns throughout this journey. But yeah, just try to stay true to yourself," she shared. This emphasis on self-awareness and emotional resilience is crucial for navigating the demanding and often subjective world of fashion.
When the pressures of her self-proclaimed workaholic tendencies become overwhelming, Fan finds solace in exploring dog parks. "I think, and especially New York, is such a great place for a lot of amazing parks, so that’s my favorite place to be in," she noted. Even in these moments of respite, Fan’s keen observational skills remain active, subconsciously absorbing the nuances of her surroundings that may very well find their way into future collections. While New York City may have served as Fan’s educational campus, Tang Chi Couture is now embarking on its own unique and expansive global journey.
